Building Buchan:
Community Mapping Exercise and Action Plan Banff and Buchan Area, Aberdeenshire
As Digital Champion personally undertook, as a component of the Building Buchan – New Beginnings project (Stakeholders Scottish Enterprise Grampian and Aberdeenshire Council) a mapping exercise of public sector and local community provision. This research identified local communities’ grass roots needs and aspirations for digital, economic and social inclusion. The action plan outlined the challenges for stakeholders, communities and providers in meeting these aspirations and goals. This report laid the foundation for further research and local action.

Needs of the voluntary sector in Tayside for ICT support in urban areas (2003) and the urban and rural areas of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire (2004)
Project management and commissioning of two action research projects, by Project Support Consultancy (PSC) .Identifying the needs within the community and voluntary sectors of Dundee, for ICT consultancy, technical support and skills development. In addition, a comparator research project was undertaken for the urban and rural areas in Aberdeen/Shire. The research conclusions suggested that contrary to local perceptions the underpinning issues facing local communities and the voluntary sectors, in accessing ICT and encouraging digital and social inclusion, were the similar for both rural and urban areas.

E Cities Benchmarking Communities Strand Dundee and Aberdeen
Championed the E Cities project and undertook the community benchmarking exercise for Dundee and raised awareness in Aberdeen, part of the national E Cities project (supported by Scottish Executive and led by BusinessLab and St Andrews University).

Comparative research and best value benchmarking exercise - Fife
Undertaken on behalf of Fife Council, underpinning the Internet Development processes. Piloted and implemented on-line surveys and identifying UK local authority (public sector) best practice (value) in suitable Intranet / Internet management and development.
